145 goals for Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that Rúben Amorim is ‘doing his best’ at Manchester United, but emphasized that it’s unrealistic to expect the Portuguese manager to perform ‘miracles.’ Ronaldo, who blossomed into one of the world’s elite players during his time at Old Trafford and secured his first Ballon d’Or with the club before moving to Real Madrid in 2009, is reflecting on the current state of affairs.
After returning for a second spell at the club in 2021, Ronaldo’s impressive goal tally for his age couldn’t save his tenure from ending on a harsh note due to disagreements with Erik ten Hag. The iconic forward claimed numerous top honors during his first stint with United, yet the club has faced significant challenges in the past decade. Last season saw Amorim guide United to their worst-ever Premier League finish, prompting Ronaldo to discuss his fellow countryman in an extensive interview with Piers Morgan.

Amorim has found himself under immense pressure throughout his tenure at Old Trafford, though signs of recovery are beginning to emerge. Ronaldo insists that Amorim requires time. “He’s [Amorim] doing his best,” Ronaldo remarked. “What can you do? Miracles are impossible. As we say in Portugal, ‘Miracles only happen in Fatima’… And he’s not going to work miracles. They have talented players, but some of them don’t fully grasp what it means to be at Manchester United.”

In a previous conversation with Morgan, Ronaldo expressed strong criticisms of United’s management but has since reaffirmed his affection for the club, lamenting its current struggles. “I’m saddened because of the club, which is one of the most significant in the world, and a club that still holds a special place in my heart for obvious reasons,” Ronaldo shared. “I won the Champions League there and a multitude of titles. Manchester United is still in my heart. I love that club. However, we must be honest and acknowledge that they are not on the right track.”
