Ruud van Nistelrooy scored 150 goals in 219 appearances for United, ranking him 11th on the club’s all-time scoring list. He most recently held the position of manager at Leicester City.

At the age of 49, he briefly took over as caretaker manager of the Reds in 2024, during which he managed four matches after serving as part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff for a short time.

This isn’t his first experience with the Netherlands; he previously assisted Guus Hiddink in 2014, following the country’s third-place finish at that year’s World Cup under Louis van Gaal.

During his playing career, Ruud maintained an impressive ratio of a goal every other game at the international level, scoring 35 goals in 70 appearances.
