Andreas Skov Olsen has finalized his transfer to Scottish Premiership giants Rangers. On Friday, the Ibrox club announced the acquisition of the 26-year-old winger from Wolfsburg. According to Transfermarkt, the Scottish side has the option to secure a permanent deal in the upcoming summer transfer window. Originally joining Wolfsburg from Club Brugge a year ago for €14 million, the Danish winger has struggled to find form, making only ten appearances this season, six as a starter, largely due to injuries. Since his arrival at Wolfsburg, his market value has decreased from €16 million to €10 million.

“I’m extremely excited and thankful that this deal is finalized. I can’t wait to meet the players, fans, and everyone at the club,” stated the new Rangers player in a club announcement. “Rangers is the most prominent club in Scotland, boasting a rich history and strong traditions. When I heard about the chance to join, I didn’t hesitate for a moment. I am here to contribute to winning trophies with my new team and to enjoy my time here.”

What to Expect from Skov Olsen at Rangers

At Rangers, Skov Olsen will work under German coach Danny Röhl, who took charge of the 55-time Scottish champions in October and averages 1.89 points per game across 19 matches. Under his leadership, Rangers have climbed to second place in the league, currently trailing the leaders, Hearts, with a game in hand.

As the third most valuable player in the Rangers squad, Skov Olsen is anticipated to assist in the push for the championship title in the second half of the season. While he faced challenges in Germany, many factors contributed to his struggles at Wolfsburg, especially the instability within the club, highlighted by their recent 8-1 loss to Bayern Munich.

Given these circumstances, Rangers may have secured a valuable asset in Skov Olsen with the option to buy this winter. Known for his scoring and playmaking abilities, the Danish national team player excelled at Club Brugge, where he recorded 49 goals and 30 assists in 124 matches across all competitions. If utilized effectively, Skov Olsen has the potential to regain his form and revitalize his market value.
