“I have ongoing meetings with Ruben [Amorim], Chris Vivell, and his team where we clearly outline the player profiles we need. The initial brief comes from Ruben and me, which then goes to Chris. We engage in extensive discussions about the required profiles before our scouts venture into the market. We also collaborate closely with the data team, ensuring that there is continuous communication throughout the process.
“Currently, I hold weekly meetings with the recruitment team to discuss various player profiles, their age, costs, and how attainable they are, alongside Ruben. This approach fosters a strong collaborative effort. When we sign a player, a multitude of individuals play a role in the process. The data team also contributes, allowing us to concentrate our efforts on particular targets.
“It’s crucial that we conduct thorough background checks to ensure that the players are clean-living professionals. This factor is essential. This year, our focus was on players ready for the Premier League, and with Bryan [Mbeumo] and Matheus [Cunha], we had to be cautious. We needed players who could be quickly integrated with minimal transition time.
