Valued at a total of €1.35 billion
Following the release of the Serie A market value update on Tuesday,
Transfermarkt has now evaluated all players in Europe’s top five leagues, adjusting market values based on current form, fitness, and overall standing in the sport. These updated figures have significant implications on various aspects of the game, providing an opportunity to reassess the world’s most valuable players and determine where the top talents from across Europe fit into an ideal starting XI. Players have been selected based on their preferred position, with younger players ranked above older ones if they share the same market value. Let’s discover who comprises this elite starting XI of the most valuable players globally.
In goal, Manchester City’s Gianluigi Donnarumma stands out with a market value of €45 million. He leads a defensive line valued at a total of €325 million, featuring full-backs Nuno Mendes (€75 million) and Achraf Hakimi (€80 million) from Paris Saint-Germain. In central defense, Barcelona’s Pau Cubarsí (€80 million) partners with Arsenal’s William Saliba, valued at €90 million. Notably, Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni—another top defender—also has a market value of €80 million but is eight years older than Cubarsí, which has led to his omission.
Transitioning to midfield, we find a classic formation of two central midfielders and one attacking midfielder. Barcelona’s Pedri, valued at €140 million, occupies the center alongside Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham, valued at €160 million. Positioned just ahead of them in the No. 10 role is Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala, who is valued at €130 million, serving as a crucial link between the midfield and a powerful front line. This exceptional trio represents the three most valuable players in the world, with Cole Palmer, Federico Valverde, and Declan Rice narrowly missing out, each valued at €120 million.
The attacking front is led by the co-most valuable players in the world. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland headlined the attack with a valuation of €200 million. He is supported by two of the sport’s most dynamic wingers: Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr (€150 million) on the left and Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal on the right, who shares Haaland’s €200 million valuation. This impressive front trio highlights the attack as the most expensive part of this €1.35 billion XI. A key absentee, of course, is Kylian Mbappé, who, despite his equal market value of €200 million with Haaland, is two years older, resulting in his exclusion from the starting lineup.
