The 23-year-old has worked diligently to earn respect since then, even though he didn’t have the opportunity to don the jersey before Carrick left our coaching staff in December 2021.
Following loan stints at Rangers and Sunderland—where he scored in a 2023 victory against Michael’s Middlesbrough team—Amad has established himself as an integral part of the United squad. His return from representing the Ivory Coast in the Africa Cup of Nations became a major highlight of Michael’s first training session back on Wednesday.
Prior to his international obligations, the Ivorian started 16 out of our 17 matches across all competitions, making it a welcome sight to see him back at our training facility, joined by Bryan Mbeumo, who also participated in the mid-season tournament for Cameroon.
