Zlatan Ibrahimovic's son leaves AC Milan for dad's former club

Maximilian Ibrahimović, the son of legendary Swedish international Zlatan, has made the move to Ajax, one of his father’s former teams. The 19-year-old has left AC Milan, where his father serves as an influential advisor, to join the Dutch club on an initial loan deal with a permanent option. After joining AC Milan from Hammarby in 2022, Ibrahimović struggled to secure a first-team position but is eager to develop at one of Europe’s elite clubs for nurturing young talent.

In a statement to the Ajax website, Ibrahimovic expressed, “I am my own person and player, and I want to carve out my own path. I feel great and I’m excited about the opportunity. It’s special that my father played for Ajax too. I’m grateful for the chance to further my development here. I am here to focus on my own journey, and I truly look forward to that.”

Maximilian Ibrahimović Signs with Ajax

Recently, Ibrahimović participated in training sessions with AC Milan’s first team and was included in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad for the Supercoppa match against Napoli last month. The winger has been impressive in AC’s youth team this season in Serie D, contributing to nine goals in 16 matches, but his future now lies with Ajax.

Several Eredivisie clubs showed considerable interest in Ibrahimovic, but he chose to join Ajax. He will train with Fred Grim’s first-team squad and play with Jong Ajax until he is ready for his professional debut. Recently, he received his first call-up to the Swedish U18 squad, and his current market value on Transfermarkt stands at €300k. Zlatan made his mark at Ajax, netting 48 goals in 110 appearances before moving to Juventus and establishing himself as one of the greatest strikers of his era.
