Zlatan Ibrahimovic's son leaves AC Milan for dad's former club

Maximilian Ibrahimović, the son of legendary Swedish international Zlatan Ibrahimović, has made the move to one of his father’s former clubs, Ajax. The 19-year-old has left AC Milan, where his father is a key advisor, to sign an initial loan deal with the option for a permanent transfer. Despite joining AC Milan from Hammarby in 2022, he struggled to find a place in the first team and is eager to join one of Europe’s finest clubs for youth development.

In a statement on the Ajax website, Ibrahimović expressed: “I am my own person and player, and I want to craft my own narrative. I feel good and excited. It’s special that my father played for Ajax as well. I’m grateful for the chance to continue my development here. I’m here to forge my own path, and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Maximilian Ibrahimović Signs with Ajax

Recently, Ibrahimović has been training with the first team at AC Milan and accompanied Massimiliano Allegri’s squad for the Supercoppa fixture against Napoli last month. He has excelled in AC’s youth team this season in Serie D, contributing nine goals in 16 matches, but his future now lies with Ajax.

Several Eredivisie clubs showed strong interest in Ibrahimović, but he chose to join Ajax. He will train with Fred Grim’s first-team squad while playing with Jong Ajax until he’s prepared for his professional debut. Recently, he earned his first call-up to the Swedish U18 national team, and his market value on Transfermarkt is currently €300k. Zlatan made his mark at Ajax, scoring 48 goals in 110 appearances prior to moving to Juventus and evolving into one of the greatest strikers of his generation.
