It’s transfer deadline day for most major leagues, and clubs are actively seeking new signings. The top clubs in European football—and others across the continent—are in the thick of their plans for the upcoming season. Teams are diligently working behind the scenes to identify targets and determine their budgets.
Managers are consistently evaluating their squads, while sporting directors and recruitment teams scour the market for potential deals. A significant number of players will become available in the summer, as clubs usually have more funds to spend and face fewer restrictions under financial fair play regulations. The rumor mill is starting to gain momentum, and we’ve gathered some of the most notable transfer news.
Today’s Key Transfer Updates
Emiliano Martínez has reportedly declined an offer from Galatasaray, as he is not interested in a move to the Süper Lig. The Argentinian international also attracted interest from Manchester United but has decided to stay at Aston Villa.
Galatasaray has come to terms with İlkay Gündoğan, who will join from Manchester City on a free transfer. The former German international had limited prospects under Pep Guardiola and will now spend the latter stages of his career in Türkiye.
Raheem Sterling appears set to stay at Chelsea until January, with minimal interest in his services from either Saudi Pro League clubs or others. Fulham made an inquiry, but his substantial wages proved to be a barrier.
