MASON MOUNT (by Adam Marshall)

Mason undoubtedly benefitted from the warm ovation he received at Old Trafford when he was substituted during the victory against Sunderland. This gesture was a deserving acknowledgment of his contributions, particularly his well-taken opening goal, and reinforced the notion that the 26-year-old is reaching his full potential.

The upcoming weekend promises to highlight his work rate and tactical awareness off the ball, which are strengths of our number 7. With extensive experience gained from his time at Chelsea and with the England national team, he won’t be intimidated by Anfield. In fact, it was his goal in the 42nd minute back in March 2021 that clinched an away victory for his former team.

In the following season, he helped Chelsea secure a 1-1 draw at Anfield, even after Reece James was sent off in the first half, and he played for nearly the entire 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw in January 2023. Mason knows what it takes to achieve results on the turf of the Merseyside club and will be fully prepared for this challenge.
