Factors including team performance and transfers played a role, so let’s explore which clubs faced the biggest losses.

Teams with the Largest Decreases in Squad Market Value in 2024/25

The team with the most substantial decline in squad market value this past season is none other than Premier League giants Manchester United. The Red Devils experienced a staggering loss of -€214 million, bringing their new total down to €643 million after a disappointing season that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League. Among the most notable losses were forward Rasmus Højlund (-€30m) and defender Matthijs de Ligt (-€27m). Following closely in second place is AC Milan, who suffered a -€163 million decrease, resulting in a total market value of €438 million following a tumultuous campaign.

In third place, the Serie A champions Napoli saw their market value drop by -€156 million despite their on-field achievements, largely due to an aging squad. La Liga side Real Sociedad ranks fourth with a -€100 million decrease, while Premier League’s West Ham holds fifth place with a -€82 million decline. The Bundesliga’s RB Leipzig comes in sixth with a -€77 million drop, with second in the Premier League, Arsenal, following with a -€71 million decrease. Ligue 1 club Lyon rounds out the top eight with a -€61 million loss, sharing the ninth and tenth slots with Saudi Pro League’s Al-Hilal and La Liga’s Girona, both also experiencing a -€61 million drop.
