“As a team, we consistently review our footage because it’s essential for our growth and development together. Personally, I enjoy watching the games back, typically on Dutch television. I focus on my individual performance to identify areas for improvement and acknowledge what I did well. This is a regular practice for me, and as a collective, we also analyze clips to enhance our teamwork.”
Matthijs elaborates on squad meetings, stating, “We primarily watch clips that highlight four key phases of the game. The first is the attacking phase, which involves build-up play and creating opportunities. Next is the transition to the attacking phase, focusing on our reaction after regaining possession and initiating counter-attacks. The third phase is the defensive phase, followed by the defensive transition. These four phases are crucial in football, and reviewing clips allows us to assess where we can improve and recognize our successes.”
