The initiative was spotlighted as a key component of a new decade-long strategy aimed at promoting economic growth and enhancing social conditions throughout the city region.
Mayor Andy Burnham praised the Old Trafford Regeneration project, calling it the largest sports-led initiative in the UK since the London 2012 Olympics. It aims to create a vibrant leisure and business hub along with 15,000 new residences surrounding a new 100,000-seat football stadium.
Additionally, he announced that Lord Sebastian Coe, who played a pivotal role in the delivery of the 2012 Olympics, will serve as the Chair-designate of a newly established Mayoral Development Corporation dedicated to advancing the Old Trafford project.
