Market value changes in Tottenham's squad as James Maddison's value declines

Few clubs in the Premier League required as significant a rebuild this summer as Tottenham Hotspur. Finishing last season in 17th place marked the club’s worst performance in Premier League history, leading to the dismissal of manager Ange Postecoglou. He was replaced by Brentford’s Thomas Frank, and so far, the results have been promising.

After significant investment of €210.6 million in new players during the transfer window, Frank has led his revamped Spurs squad to four wins, two draws, and just one loss in their first seven league matches. This impressive form has positioned Tottenham comfortably in third place, reigniting hopes of European football next May. Additionally, Transfermarkt‘s latest market value assessment of the Premier League noted increases in the market values of several key players.

Tottenham: Market Value Overview

Overall, Tottenham’s squad market value has risen by €29.5 million, reaching an impressive €430 million, making it the fifth highest in the Premier League. Most of the 12 players whose market values were adjusted experienced an increase. Notably, new signing Mohammed Kudus and in-form full-back Djed Spence saw their market values rise by €10 million to €55 million and €30 million, respectively. Following them, defensive partners Christian Romero and Micky van de Ven, along with Brazilian striker Richarlison, all had their values increase by €5 million, bringing them to €55 million and €25 million. Additionally, squad members Pape Matar Sarr, Pedro Porro, and Lucas Bergvall saw minor increases in their market values, while new signing Kota Takai’s value increased by €2.5 million to align with his transfer fee.

Changes in Tottenham's market values

However, not all news was favorable for Frank’s squad. Young talent Archie Gray experienced a €3 million decrease in his market value, dropping to €35 million due to limited first-team appearances. Similarly, Yves Bissouma’s market value fell by €5 million to €20 million for comparable reasons. The most significant decline was seen with James Maddison, whose market value dropped by €7 million to €35 million, reflecting a combination of poor form and ongoing injuries. This reduction means that Maddison’s current market value is exactly half of what it was a year ago.
