SECOND HALF – MORE FRUSTRATION
As in the first half, United began the second half strongly. Amad seized the ball and unleashed a shot that tested Leno, but that would be his last contribution as Ruben Amorim made tactical adjustments.
Benjamin Sesko came on in the 52nd minute, yet it was Fulham who applied the pressure. Yoro had to be on his toes to fend off the speedy King, and minutes later, the center-back had a pivotal moment.
From Fernandes’s corner, the French defender rose above everyone and directed a powerful header towards goal. While it seemed to take a deflection off Fulham striker Muniz, it marked our first goal of the new season. But the excitement didn’t stop there.
The hosts sprang to life while trying to regain possession from Diogo Dalot. Under pressure from Alex Iwobi, Dalot struggled to control the ball, and Iwobi’s perfectly placed cross set up a simple finish for Smith Rowe.
The attacker had only been on the field for a matter of minutes when he struck from close range, finding the net against the run of play and breaking through the Reds’ defense.
