FIRST HALF – A FIERCE CONTEST
There was only one change from our previous match just a few days prior, as the injured Mason Mount made way for Zirkzee, who started in one of the positions behind Benjamin Sesko for our final game of the year.
We also made a slight adjustment to our formation, with Amorim opting to return to his preferred back-three setup. Dorgu returned to the left wing-back role after a solid performance playing right-wing against the Magpies.
Aside from a corner taken by Luke Shaw, there was minimal goalmouth action at either end initially.
This changed when Sesko collected a pass from Dorgu, skillfully maneuvering into a central position to create a shooting opportunity. However, his shot narrowly missed the target, eliciting strong support from the Old Trafford crowd.
The match resumed a more subdued pace soon after this moment of excitement, with Wolves sinking deep to defend, making it challenging for the Reds to find a breakthrough. As a result, the team began to play cautiously at the back in search of an opening.
That opening finally came thanks to a courageous run from Ayden Heaven, who dispossessed Hwang Hee-chan high up the pitch and surged forward, ultimately connecting with Zirkzee.
