Noussair Mazraoui is currently out due to injury, but he is showing progress in his recovery.

In a conversation with MUTV’s Mark Sullivan after his press conference, Ruben was asked about the state of the squad.

“Things are looking really good,” he responded. “I had to make some tough decisions regarding the lineup for the weekend. Selecting the best starting XI was challenging, especially knowing that the game can be influenced by those who come off the bench, so every player is crucial.”

The squad that played against Fulham saw eight changes ahead of the midweek cup match at Blundell Park. Notably, Andre Onana took over in goal for Altay Bayindir, and Benjamin Sesko made his first start in attack.

Casemiro was left on the bench as an unused substitute, and Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw were not included in the matchday lineup.

Onana, Tyler Fredricson, Kobbie Mainoo, and Joshua Zirkzee all made their first appearances of the season.

Argentine international Lisandro Martinez continues to be sidelined as he recovers from knee surgery.
