Market value: €50 million
Tottenham Hotspur is actively undergoing a transformative summer. With Thomas Frank stepping in as the new manager, taking over from Ange Postecoglou, fans can expect a distinctly different style of play this season. The standout signing so far has been Mohammed Kudus, who joined from West Ham for €63.8 million. Now, Spurs are reportedly eyeing one of Brazil’s most promising attacking talents, Savinho, currently at Manchester City. As reported by The Athletic, Spurs have initiated talks with Man City to explore the possibility of signing Savinho, with discussions indicating a potential fee around €50 million.
However, Manchester City is not inclined to sell easily, indicating that they would need substantially more than €50 million for a transfer to be considered. Nonetheless, the 21-year-old Brazilian international is said to be open to the move, and City manager Pep Guardiola generally does not block players who wish to depart. With significant competition in their attacking lineup, City might be willing to let Savinho go. Spurs’ interest reflects an ongoing strategy to infuse youth, dynamism, and unpredictability into their squad. The big question remains: how could Tottenham line up with Savinho this season?
Potential Lineup for Tottenham with Savinho
If Savinho makes the switch to Spurs, he could serve multiple roles within Frank’s formation. He might compete for a spot on the right alongside Kudus, Dejan Kulusevski, and Brennan Johnson, or he could bring fresh options to the left, potentially stepping in for the departed Son Heung-min. Should he join, it’s likely that he would expect to be a regular starter. As a left-footed player, his natural position would be on the right wing. However, new addition Kudus is also left-footed and has primarily played on the right during pre-season.
One potential solution, as depicted in the graphic above, would be to position Kudus in the no.10 role behind the striker with Savinho taking up the right-wing position. Kudus excelled in central areas during his time at West Ham and could significantly enhance Tottenham’s offense from this position. This configuration would also allow Savinho to play in his preferred role, forming an exciting young trio with Kudus and possibly Mathys Tel, supporting striker Dominic Solanke. Securing Savinho would mark an ambitious summer for Tottenham, which is focused on blending emerging talents with established quality, as they look to improve upon last season’s disappointing 17th-place finish in the Premier League.
