“I completely understand why Casey Stoney, the Canada manager, chose not to select Simi; Casey prefers to pick players who are actively participating in matches. Unfortunately, it was just a matter of circumstance for Simi.
“I’m hopeful that in the upcoming games, we will see Simi return to her peak performance. Whether she starts or not, I anticipate we’ll see more from her during this next phase.”
Brighton will be missing England international Michelle Agyemang this Sunday. The on-loan Arsenal striker, who showcased her skills with impressive goals in the Euro 2025 quarter-finals and semi-finals, is now sidelined for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
“As an Englishman, I take great pride in my heritage, and I want to extend my best wishes to her,” Skinner remarked. “She’s an incredibly talented player, and this situation is unfortunate for both club and country.
“From what I’ve heard about her character, I have no doubt that this will only make her stronger. I wish her a speedy recovery and hope to see her back on the pitch soon.”
