“My desk was always chaotic, an absolute disaster, and she took it upon herself to organize it. When I returned, I found a heap of abusive letters, another stack from kids in the hospital, and yet another from the fathers of players—hundreds in total. She would often say, ‘Look at these poor kids, you should reach out to this child and this father.’ I’d reply, ‘Kath, there are hundreds here!’ But she insisted it was my responsibility. Truly remarkable.
“Each day, my desk remained a mess, and I relied on Kath to tidy it up. She was an incredible person—55 years at Manchester United, a record that no one else can claim. I felt privileged to be here for 27 years. Can you imagine dedicating 55 years to one place? Such loyalty and commitment—her absence is a significant loss for this club. I’m going to unveil this plaque in her honor and express my gratitude for the wonderful person she was and for all she contributed to Manchester United.”
