The manager mentioned that there will be chances for other first-team and Academy players to step up.
“This is a situation we anticipated, but it presents an opportunity for some other players. We also have our Under-21s, and we need to convey this message as well, so we’ll see how it goes. However, it’s certainly not ideal because Amad, Mazraoui, and Mbeumo are crucial to our team, and our squad is not very deep.”
“Yet, this is exactly what our Academy is for, and we’ll be prepared.”
When asked about Luke Shaw playing as a wing-back in the likely absence of Amad and Mazraoui, the head coach responded: “Absolutely, he can play in that role. The workload for that position is somewhat different.”
“If he practices there regularly, he’ll be better prepared to handle it. He’s a smart player and is currently fit, so he’s definitely an option.”
