Record Transfers for Each Premier League Club in a Single Season

We will list the clubs in alphabetical order. Arsenal topped the charts with a total expenditure of €294 million on new players, the highlight being the €70 million signing of midfielder Martín Zubimendi. This amount has surpassed their previous record spend for a season, while the Gunners also recorded the highest net spend across the globe this summer. Aston Villa could only manage €30 million this summer due to Premier League’s PSR rules, but their record transfer spending occurred last season (2024/25) when they invested €214 million. Bournemouth broke their club record with a €138 million spend but also recorded the lowest net spend in the division due to several high-profile departures.

Brentford, too, set a new record by spending €99 million this summer. Brighton achieved their record in the previous season, having invested €282 million during the 2024/25 campaign. Newly-promoted Burnley made headlines by spending €129 million, thus breaking their club record. Chelsea, unsurprisingly, has the highest single-season spending total, having laid out an eye-watering €630 million in the 2022/23 season. Crystal Palace’s record dates back to the 2016/17 season when they spent €101 million. Everton’s highest spending happened in the 2017/18 season with a total of €203 million, while Fulham recorded their highest transfer spend in the 2018/19 season at €116 million.

Manchester City spent €318 million in the 2017/18 season, while their rivals at Manchester United recorded their highest expenditure at €251 million this summer. Newcastle surpassed their previous record by investing €289 million this summer, and Nottingham Forest also broke their record by spending €237 million.

Newly-promoted Sunderland set a record for the highest spending among promoted clubs in Premier League history, also topping their previous club record with an expenditure of €188 million. Tottenham’s record spending occurred in the 2023/24 season when they invested €272 million. West Ham set their record in the 2022/23 season with a total spend of €197 million, while Wolverhampton completed the list by spending €180 million in the 2022/23 campaign.
