This summer, English Premier League clubs set a new record by spending an astonishing €3.59 billion during the transfer window. The focus was evidently on acquiring players with proven track records in the Premier League, with clubs frequently buying from one another throughout the summer. Liverpool made headlines by shattering the league's transfer record, securing Alexander Isak on deadline day for €145 million.

Arne Slot's squad sealed the three biggest deals of the summer, bringing in Florian Wirtz for an initial €125 million and Hugo Ekitiké for €95 million. Notably, eight Premier League teams have already surpassed their previous season's transfer records within this window. While some players might still depart for clubs in Türkiye or Saudi Arabia prior to their respective deadlines, we've evaluated which teams experienced the most significant shifts in market value throughout the summer transfer window, utilizing Transfermarkt’s established market values.

For our analysis, we defined the summer transfer window as spanning from June 1st to September 2nd, in order to account for the temporary window related to the Club World Cup. Unsurprisingly, Liverpool emerged as the club with the highest increase in squad market value, rising by €254 million.
The graphic above shows that Sunderland ranks sixth but boasts the highest percentage change in market value at 68.4%, jumping from €172.65 million to €290.7 million. Brighton, on the other hand, saw the largest decline in market value, dropping by €94 million—a move that's somewhat expected given their strategy of developing young talent. They sold some of their most prominent players, including João Pedro. Wolves experienced losses with Matheus Cunha and Rayan Aït-Nouri, placing them near the bottom, followed closely by Aston Villa.
