Arsenal has yet to secure any signings during the January transfer window, but they may soon part ways with a key player. According to The Athletic, Ligue 1 club Marseille is exploring a loan deal to acquire Ethan Nwaneri for the rest of the season. The report indicates that several clubs across Europe and in the Premier League have expressed interest in signing the 18-year-old on a permanent basis. However, Arsenal is currently only considering a loan arrangement for Nwaneri. It remains uncertain whether he will accept a temporary move to southern France.
Last season, Nwaneri made 37 appearances for Mikel Arteta’s squad, averaging approximately 37 minutes of play per game and generating significant excitement regarding his potential as a future star for both England and Arsenal. His market value surged from €12m to €55m due to this rise in profile. Although his game time has slightly increased this season to an average of 43 minutes per appearance, Nwaneri has found it challenging to secure a spot in Arteta’s starting lineup following the arrivals of Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke. Consequently, his market value has decreased by €15m since the start of the season.
