Newcastle United is preparing an offer to acquire Hugo Ekitiké from Eintracht Frankfurt, as confirmed by Transfermarkt and reported by The Athletic. The Premier League club is keen on securing the French forward, although sources indicate that no direct negotiations have taken place yet. A substantial bid will be necessary for Frankfurt to consider letting the player go.

What would constitute a substantial offer? In light of recent big-money transfers, including Randal Kolo Muani’s move to Paris Saint-Germain for €95 million and Omar Marmoush’s transfer to Manchester City for €75 million, Frankfurt is expected to demand a significant fee to part with Ekitiké this summer. The Eagles have a strong history of negotiations and often achieve favorable outcomes in the transfer market. Notably, the 23-year-old striker is under contract until 2029 with no exit clause.

Frankfurt initially brought Ekitiké on loan from PSG in February 2024 for €3.5 million, later making the deal permanent for an additional €16.5 million the following summer. PSG is entitled to a percentage of any future transfer fee. Since joining, Ekitiké has seen his market value rise from €15 million to €75 million, and Newcastle intends to offer that exact figure to secure his transfer.

€75m+: Why is Newcastle Eager to Sign Hugo Ekitiké?

There has been considerable interest in Ekitiké. Before the FIFA Club World Cup, Chelsea expressed interest, and Arsenal considered him before opting for other targets. Now, Newcastle is the latest club pursuing the Frankfurt forward.

Why the interest from Newcastle? Ekitiké shares a similar profile with Swedish striker Alexander Isak. This raises questions about Isak’s future with the Magpies. For Newcastle, acquiring Ekitiké would mean adding a player who has finally lived up to the expectations set when PSG signed him from Stade Reims for €28.5 million in 2023.

In the 2024/25 season, Ekitiké delivered a remarkable performance, scoring 15 goals and providing eight assists in 33 Bundesliga matches. His contributions were crucial for Frankfurt, helping the team secure a top-four finish and Champions League qualification after the departure of top scorer Marmoush to Manchester City. As previously noted on Transfermarkt, Ekitiké is a versatile forward capable of playing as a no. 9 or on the wing. With immense talent and speed, he has the potential to elevate his game further—whether that be at Frankfurt or possibly at Newcastle.
