Having represented Portugal at various youth levels, he has capped 36 times, although he has yet to earn a senior international cap. In terms of financial outlay, Fernandes becomes West Ham's third most expensive player, following Sebastian Haller (€50 million) and Max Kilman (€47 million).</p>
