After returning to the dressing rooms with the score still tied, the stalemate continued into the second half, where both teams struggled to assert dominance for the first 25 minutes.
The most promising opportunity during this stretch fell to James Scanlon, who unleashed a powerful shot from outside the box that veered just wide of the post, despite appearing to be on target as it left his foot.
Scanlon played a pivotal role in our second goal, initiating a move that found Sam Mather on the left flank. Mather then delivered a pass to Jayce Fitzgerald in the center. Our number 10 initially controlled the ball well, but as the Everton defense attempted to clear, the ball ricocheted off the midfielder and ended up in Pickford’s net.
In the closing moments, the Toffees fought hard to equalize, but our defense remained resolute, thwarting their efforts and securing a victory that returned with the Reds across the M62.
