166 Updates

With league play in full swing across Europe, LaLiga becomes the first of the top five leagues to unveil new market valuations. A total of 166 players in Spain’s top division saw their market values reassessed. At the pinnacle, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal remains the most valuable player at an unchanged €200 million. He is closely followed by a trio of Real Madrid players. While Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappé maintain their values at €180 million, Vinicius Junior has seen another decline from a previous €200 million evaluation. His current market value is down from €170 million to €150 million.

“Since his failed bid for the Ballon d’Or last year, Vini’s public image has taken a hit, and discussions around him seem to have affected his on-pitch performance,” said Transfermarkt Market Value Coordinator Spain, Tobias Blaseio. “The coaching change has also played a role; Xabi Alonso clearly favors Mbappé as the focal point, while younger talents like Franco Mastantuono and Arda Güler have gained prominence, earning more playing time.” Vinicius has managed four goals and five assists in 15 games this season. “While those stats are respectable, his diminished status within the club made a drop in market value inevitable.”
After a challenging season and a lack of interest during the transfer window, Vinicius Jr.’s Brazilian teammate Rodrygo also sees his value fall, from €90 million to €80 million. “Under Xabi Alonso, he has become a bench player, which he’s unhappy about,” Blaseio commented. “Rumors of his departure resurfaced last summer and are likely to intensify again this winter. Although there will be interest, especially from clubs capable of meeting Real Madrid’s €100 million asking price, his value has indeed declined.”
Real Madrid Market Values – Mastantuono and Güler Shine as New Stars Emerge
While the Brazilian wingers have seen their values decrease, emerging talents at Real Madrid are experiencing upward mobility. New signings Dean Huijsen (+€10m to €70m) and Álvaro Carreras (+€15m to €50m) have seen significant increases in their market values. Also on the rise are newcomers Mastantuono and Turkish midfielder Güler, both of whom are making a name for themselves at the club.
“He’s another rising star at Madrid,” Blaseio noted about Mastantuono. “His immediate impact in the first team was unexpected. Alonso has shown more willingness to incorporate young players compared to Carlo Ancelotti. However, the return of Bellingham might limit his playing time, even if he is likely to remain involved through rotation. Mastantuono stands out for his speed, composure, and ability to create space for teammates with his passing.”
Güler’s potential is also noted. “He has benefited from Xabi Alonso’s appointment,” Blaseio commented. “His knack for finding space in opposing defenses makes Real Madrid’s attack even more unpredictable. Güler’s main focus now is to stay injury-free and prove himself against top-tier opponents to secure a regular spot in the starting XI, as competition for places is fierce.”
LaLiga Market Values: Etta Eyong & Álvarez Rising, Downgrades for Former Man United Players
Apart from Real Madrid, two up-and-coming talents have also received significant boosts in their market values. Karl Etta Eyong of Levante has seen his valuation soar by 300%, rising from €5 million to €20 million. “This versatile forward could be one of the breakout players of the season,” Blaseio remarked. “With seven goal involvements (four goals and three assists) in the first seven matches, his profile indicates that he is unlikely to stay at Levante for long.”
Meanwhile, Carlos Álvarez, another young Levante star, has seen his market value climb by 150%, from €6 million to €15 million. “He is a significant talent making waves in the league,” Blaseio said. “He showcased his potential last season, and this year he has elevated his performance. Álvarez stands out for his vision and work ethic, making him an instrumental part of his team.” Levante turned down a €15-20 million offer from Benfica last summer, which was below his €25 million exit clause.
In contrast, two former Manchester United players have experienced drops in their market values. Antony of Real Betis saw his valuation decrease by €5 million from €35 million to €30 million. “There is a notable disparity between his performances and his market value,” Blaseio stated. “His lengthy transfer saga negatively affected his market standing.” Similarly, Marcus Rashford, who joined Barcelona, saw his value drop by 20%, from €50 million to €40 million, despite solid performances of two goals and four assists in eight games. “His decline is perplexing, but the reality of a low purchase option at €35 million is a factor to consider,” Blaseio concluded. “Over time, we expect him to regain form and value at Barça.”
Understanding Transfermarkt Market Values
Transfermarkt market values are determined using various pricing models, heavily influenced by our community, which extensively discusses and evaluates player valuations. It’s important to note that these market values do not equate to transfer fees.
The goal is to reflect the expected value of a player in a free market, considering individual transfer dynamics and situational factors. Transfermarkt does not utilize algorithms for these valuations (more information on our market value definitions can be found here).
