UNDER-16s IN HONG KONG
Our Under-16 team is currently representing the club internationally, thanks to a long-standing collaboration with The Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The group will participate in cultural activities, exchanging experiences with local footballers and training at excellent facilities. Former Red legends Peter Schmeichel and Phil Jones are accompanying them to offer guidance.
Manchester United will play two friendly matches on August 15 and 17 at Mong Kok Stadium. The first match will see the Manchester United Academy Under-16 team face off against a Premier Youth League Select Team, while the second match pits them against the Hong Kong, China U16 Representative Team.
POSITIVE STARTS
Kudos to our players currently on loan, as many have made impressive starts to their temporary stints in the EFL.
Goalkeeper Radek Vitek earned the title of ‘Pick of the Match’ during his debut for Bristol City in the Championship, helping them secure a 4-1 victory over Sheffield United. Jack Moorhouse displayed remarkable ball-carrying skills in his initial appearances for Leyton Orient, and Ethan Wheatley showcased similar talents for Northampton Town in League One.
Despite Shrewsbury Town’s defeat in the first round of the Carabao Cup, Elyh Harrison made a penalty save during his competitive debut for Michael Appleton’s team. The Shrews’ manager, a graduate of our Academy from the 1990s, praised Elyh for his strong performance, noting his save-making abilities and his skills with the ball.
Jonny Evans, in his new role as head of loans and pathways, is maintaining regular communication with all of our loanees. He continues to work diligently on securing positive opportunities for other players who are focused on their development at Carrington within the Professional Development Phase (U17-U21) group.
