Our captain thrives on challenges, and if he successfully converts his next six penalty kicks in the league, he will join the likes of Cantona and his fellow countryman Ronaldo at the top.
Given that he would achieve this percentage with double the attempts, it would undoubtedly solidify his status as our penalty king.
It’s also important to note that Fernandes has been successful in converting numerous penalties in other competitions as well. For instance, his last four penalties in the Europa League (excluding friendly matches) were all successful.
Additionally, he has never missed a competitive penalty outside of the Premier League for United. His most recent miss from the spot was in December 2023 against Chelsea, where Robert Sanchez made an exceptional save.
