SECOND HALF – HEATH SAVES PENALTY AS BOTH TEAMS RECEIVE RED CARDS
In their previous visit to Carrington in April, our rivals from across the Pennines suffered a harsh 13-1 defeat, but Rob Etherington’s squad proved to be a much more formidable challenge this time around.
As the second half commenced, the pressure intensified with Ibragimov and Bailey each having shots from just outside the box that were blocked by the Leeds defense. Meanwhile, United found themselves under increased pressure as the Whites improved their attacking performance.
In the 70th minute, Leeds were awarded a penalty by referee Daniel Halton after Jacob Render was deemed to have been fouled by Jacob Watson. However, Heath made an outstanding save, diving to his right to deny White’s effort. Moments later, Render nearly scored with a close-range header from Kenneth Mensah’s cross, only to see it hit the outside of the post.
