<p>The position of a football manager is notoriously unstable given the level of scrutiny they face in public roles. Over the years, the responsibilities of the manager have transformed significantly, with many clubs now employing head coaches within a broader management framework. While sporting directors and technical teams often operate behind the scenes, the attention remains focused firmly on the managers, who bear the weight of accountability.</p>

<p>Unlike players, who are typically bound to honor their contracts unless transferred, managers find themselves in a different situation. They can be dismissed for poor performance or may leave for more prestigious positions if successful. The managerial turnover has already begun in 2026, with Enzo Maresca leaving Chelsea and Rúben Amorim being let go by Manchester United. This summer may see more significant changes, as several top managers’ contracts are set to expire.</p>

<p>Numerous managers currently in the top five leagues have contracts that will conclude at the end of the season, and we’ve identified four whose potential availability will pique the interest of clubs across Europe. Additionally, two high-caliber coaches, Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino, are anticipated to exit their national team duties following the 2026 World Cup. Tuchel's availability could prompt various top clubs, including Manchester United, to rethink their managerial situations.</p>

<p>Manchester United is likely to appoint an interim manager for the remainder of the season, especially after Tuchel was in advanced discussions with the club’s management prior to Amorim's appointment. Pochettino has also expressed his interest in returning to the Premier League after his stint with the United States at the World Cup. Marco Silva, Andoni Iraola, and Oliver Glasner have seen their profiles rise over the past year, yet all three have declined to extend their existing contracts. Former Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde’s contract with Athletic Club also concludes this summer, following his significant achievement in leading the Basque club to its first major trophy last season.</p>
