Manchester United's interest in Brentford's winger Bryan Mbeumo is quickly turning into a farce. What initially seemed like a straightforward transfer has now evolved into a complex saga, as the Bees reportedly raise their asking price with each negotiation to extract more from their Old Trafford counterparts. As per The Guardian, Brentford has increased their asking price for the 25-year-old winger to €81 million. Should Manchester United agree to such a fee, it would become Brentford's record sale, nearly doubling the €42 million they received from Ivan Toney's move to Al-Ahli last summer.

Instead of spending the entire transfer window chasing a player who may not be available, Manchester United would be wiser to focus on alternative targets. The football world is filled with exceptional talents that could effectively fill the right-wing position in Rúben Amorim's squad this season, often at significantly lower price points than what Brentford demands for Mbeumo. So, who are the more affordable and potentially better options for Manchester United this summer?

Sindre Walle Egeli

First on our list is Sindre Walle Egeli, a relatively unknown talent in European football, currently playing in Denmark. Since joining Nordsjaelland's first team in 2024, the 19-year-old Norwegian has been outstanding at the senior level, contributing 16 goals and assists in 37 appearances. He has averaged an impressive 0.58 goals and assists per 90 minutes across all competitions, whether playing on the right or left wing or even up front. Egeli seems poised to follow in the footsteps of former Nordsjaelland stars like Mikkel Damsgaard, Mohammed Kudus, and Conrad Harder and eventually make a mark in one of Europe's top leagues.

Ernest Nuamah

Another promising name is Ernest Nuamah, a fellow former Nordsjaelland player. At just 21, Nuamah has already made two transfers worth a combined €53.5 million. After moving to Belgian club RWDM last summer, he was quickly loaned to Lyon, where his move was later made permanent for €28.5 million. His impressive tally of 25 goals and assists in 49 games at Nordsjaelland and a solid average of 0.49 goals and assists per 90 for Lyon showcase his potential. While he is still relatively untested, he could be a more cost-effective option compared to Mbeumo, offering a great opportunity for Manchester United if he reaches his potential.

Yéremy Pino

Another young prospect ripe for acquisition is Villarreal’s Yéremy Pino. After joining the LaLiga club as a youth player in 2019, he quickly made his first-team debut and has since completed four seasons in Spain’s top division. Despite his youth, the 22-year-old has delivered an impressive 0.63 goal contributions per 90 minutes in all competitions last season. His performances have also earned him 15 call-ups to the Spain national team, marking him as a star in the making and a potentially excellent long-term option for Manchester United’s right wing woes.

Matías Soulé

If Manchester United seeks solutions from Serie A, Matías Soulé of Roma could be an ideal candidate. The young Argentine winger emerged from Juventus’ youth system but, like many young talents, struggled for first-team opportunities and transferred to Roma last summer for €25.6 million. Since then, he has recorded 10 goals and assists in 27 league appearances, averaging 0.50 goal contributions per 90 minutes. Additionally, Soulé is versatile enough to play as an attacking midfielder or even as a right wing-back, providing even more value.

Arda Güler

Finally, we present Arda Güler, a more audacious choice, yet one that could appease Manchester United fans eager for proven talent this summer. Although Güler has a significant market value of €45 million, he has not received ample game time since joining Real Madrid in 2023 for €24 million, playing only 37% of LaLiga matches last season. With the prospect of limited opportunities ahead in the upcoming season, he may be seeking a new club where he can secure a starting role. Following in the footsteps of Martin Ødegaard, Güler could thrive in the Premier League with consistent playtime, potentially making Manchester United the right fit for him.
