11 Premier League Goals

11 goals in eight games - Is Erling Haaland the Premier League's most influential striker?

Erling Haaland has continued his remarkable run in the Premier League 2025/26 season, netting two goals for Manchester City on Saturday, bringing his total to 11 goals in just eight matches. His contribution helped secure a 2-0 win against Everton at the Etihad Stadium. Despite a frustrating first half, Haaland showcased his skills with a powerful header in the 58th minute, followed by a precise finish just five minutes later.

This impressive tally means Haaland has scored 11 of City’s 17 goals this season, representing an astounding 64.7%—the highest percentage of any player in the league. If his spectacular goals don’t highlight his significance, this statistic certainly does. Newcastle’s record signing, Nick Woltemade, currently ranks second with four goals in seven matches after his €75 million transfer from Stuttgart, while Jarrod Bowen rounds out the top three with three goals for West Ham.

Erling Haaland's goal contribution

Both Jaidon Anthony of Burnley and Brentford’s Igor Thiago share fourth place with four goals each, contributing to 44.4% of their respective teams’ total scores. Antoine Semenyo, who is second in the goalscoring charts, has scored six out of Bournemouth’s 14 goals. Notably, Jean-Philippe Mateta, who scored a hat-trick in a 3-3 draw against Bournemouth, sits seventh on the list. Other players in the top ten include Chris Wood, Danny Welbeck, and Wilson Isidor. However, none come close to Haaland, who has emerged as the world’s most in-form striker.

The only team to successfully limit Haaland’s impact this season was Tottenham, who managed a 2-0 victory in August. Since then, he has been in sensational form, finding the net 18 times in his last eight appearances for both club and country (10 for City and 8 for Norway). Remarkably, he scored five goals and provided two assists in an 11-1 rout against Moldova. His impressive club performances have come against formidable opponents, allowing him to maintain a five-goal lead over his nearest competitor, Semenyo, for the Golden Boot, who has six goals this season.

Haaland is known for explosive starts to league campaigns, often tapering off as the season progresses. However, given his current form, questions are emerging about whether Manchester City can mount a serious challenge for their ninth Premier League title. With Haaland, the clear standout striker in the league, Pep Guardiola’s confidence in their title aspirations is undoubtedly strengthened.
