The Premier League has consistently attracted elite talent, with clubs willing to invest significantly to achieve success. Over the years, numerous high-value stars have relocated to England, entering with considerable expectations and even higher market values. Transfermarkt examines those players who recorded the highest market values upon their debut in the Premier League.

These signings generated immense excitement before they even set foot on English soil. The list features only players who had never played in England prior to their transfer, meaning that former youth players like Paul Pogba, who previously played in the Premier League before a big-money move back from Juventus in 2016, are not included. Notably, many of the stars on this list are arrivals from the Bundesliga.

Most Valuable New Premier League Players at the Time of Signing

At the top of the list is goal-scoring sensation Erling Haaland. No player has entered the Premier League with the same level of acclaim as the Norwegian had when he joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, with a market value of €150 million, securing him the first position. Following closely is German playmaker Florian Wirtz, who made a summer transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool for a market value of €140 million. The Bundesliga’s strong presence continues with the third place holder, Kai Havertz, valued at €81 million when he moved from Leverkusen to Chelsea in 2019.

In fourth place is Spanish midfielder Rodri, who had a market value of €80 million upon his transfer to Manchester City from Atlético Madrid in 2019. Fifth is forward Christopher Nkunku, also valued at €80 million during his move to Chelsea in 2023. Josko Gvardiol occupies sixth place with a market value of €75 million at the time of his transfer to Man City. Raphaël Varane is seventh with a valuation of €70 million upon his arrival at Manchester United, while striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang secured eighth place with a value of €65 million when he signed with Arsenal. Rounding out the top 10 are midfielder Naby Keïta and Arsenal winger Nicolas Pépé, both also valued at €65 million.
