From Manchester United to Napoli, and Paris Saint-Germain to Arsenal, some of football’s biggest names are in pursuit of their next No.9. However, with the price tags for established stars skyrocketing well past €50 million, many Sporting Directors are seeking smarter, more budget-friendly alternatives. These clubs ideally want strikers who have experience in top-five leagues while staying within a reasonable budget.
With this in mind, Transfermarkt has compiled a list of 10 strikers who could provide excellent value for money this summer. We’ve sifted through the data to find the strikers with the most goals in the top five leagues (Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1) over the last three years, who are A) under 30, and B) valued at €50 million or less. These lesser-known forwards might just be the key for teams looking to reinforce their attacking line without overspending this summer.
Top 10 strikers in the last three seasons across top-five leagues
Leading the list is Serhou Guirassy from Borussia Dortmund. At 29 years old and with a market value of €50 million, the Guinean striker has netted 60 goals in the top-five leagues over the past three seasons. Following him is Jonathan David, a newly signed player for Juventus (€45 million), who has scored 59 goals, though he won’t be moving again this summer after joining the club on a free transfer. Third is Atlético Madrid’s Alexander Sørloth (€45 million), who has tallied 55 goals, while RB Leipzig’s Loïs Openda (€50 million) is fourth with 54 goals in the same timeframe.
Completing the top five is Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa (€40 million), who has found the back of the net 50 times. The remaining contenders include Stuttgart’s Ermedin Demirovic (€22 million) with 38 goals, Brentford’s Yoane Wissa (€32 million) also with 38 goals, Roma’s Artem Dovbyk (€30 million) with 36 goals, Juventus’ Dušan Vlahović (€35 million) with 36 goals, and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson (€50 million) who has also scored 36 goals.
