The question of which teams are currently the best in Europe is a hot topic, especially early in the season. The complexities of the new Champions League format add to the challenge of identifying the top teams. It's important to recognize that the competitive standards vary across leagues each season. To help assess which clubs from the top five leagues are performing well, Transfermarkt has created a points-per-game (ppg) table. We will be revealing the top 20 teams each week from the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, and Ligue 1. Because the German and French leagues have fewer teams and matches, the table is based on ppg to ensure fairness.

Currently, Bayern Munich leads with an impressive 3.00 ppg, maintaining a perfect record from their first seven matches. In second place is Real Madrid with 2.67 ppg, followed closely by rivals Barcelona at 2.44 ppg. Arsenal, the leaders of the Premier League, sit in fourth with 2.38 ppg, just ahead of Serie A's AC Milan, who have a 2.29 ppg. AC Milan narrowly outperforms RB Leipzig, who also have the same ppg, but differ on goal difference. Surprising Ligue 1 leaders, Marseille, rank seventh with 2.25 ppg.
