The Moroccan international, who is set to represent his country in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, played in the match against Spurs and is well-positioned to assess De Ligt’s attributes both on and off the field.
“As a defender, he’s incredibly assertive,” Mazraoui noted. “He thrives on physical challenges and excels at winning those duels. With the ball, he’s also quite exceptional. You can see the influence of Ajax in his playing style.”
“He makes excellent decisions, both with the ball and without it, and he’s very vocal—an essential trait for his role. Having someone behind you who can guide you a bit to the left, or right, or help block a passing lane makes everything easier.”
“On the field, that’s his approach, and off the field, he’s just a laid-back, easygoing guy. Very approachable and quite humorous. I really enjoy spending time with him. I think he’s an outstanding person.”
