Ex-United midfielder Quinton Fortune expressed high praise for Matheus during his appearance on MUTV’s Matchday Review program.
Having played 126 matches for the Reds from 1999 to 2006, Fortune was particularly struck by Cunha’s agility and physicality, and he looks forward to seeing him showcase these attributes in future matches.
“He scored an impressive goal in the first half, but sadly it was ruled offside,” Quinton noted while seated in the MUTV studio at Old Trafford alongside fellow former player, defender Phil Bardsley.
“Whenever something was happening, it was typically linked to him. His change of pace is remarkable; just look at the run he made down the left in the second half, where he displayed his strength.”
