In the context of the Premier League era, only two managers have managed to secure three points in each of their first two away games against the reigning champions.
The two managers are Manuel Pellegrini and Antonio Conte.
In April 2016, Pellegrini’s Manchester City triumphed 3-0 at Chelsea, thanks to a hat-trick from Sergio Aguero, following a similar 3-0 victory at Old Trafford earlier in his inaugural season (2013/14).
During his tenure at Chelsea, Conte led his team to defeat Leicester City as part of their league-winning campaign in 2016/17. He also oversaw Tottenham Hotspur’s 3-2 victory over Manchester City in February 2022, where Harry Kane scored a dramatic injury-time winner.
