On Wednesday, one player who might be facing Skinner’s team is former United goalkeeper Mary Earps, a significant topic during the media briefing.
Earps, a vital part of the Reds squad that clinched the FA Cup in 2024 before moving to Paris later that same year, made over 100 appearances in five seasons with the club and could be set to compete against her former teammates for the first time this week.
“During her time here, Mary was an outstanding ambassador for the club and an exceptional player,” Skinner remarked about Earps. “We must acknowledge the immense talent she had and the contributions she made during her time with us, especially as part of the FA Cup-winning team. I can only say positive things about her.
“However, we must continue to look ahead. Phallon [Tullis-Joyce] is a phenomenal goalkeeper, and we were fortunate to have her step in as a replacement for another great goalkeeper.
“From our perspective, we’ll view Mary as an opponent in this match, but we will always honor her contributions to Manchester United. I know Mary is a wonderful person, and I’m looking forward to the challenge of trying to win against her and her team.”
