Just ahead of the winter break, Transfermarkt has updated the market values of 496 Bundesliga players. At the top, there has been a minor adjustment. Bayern Munich's star, Jamal Musiala, who has been sidelined with a serious injury since the FIFA Club World Cup, has experienced a market value drop of €10m, bringing him down to €130m. Consequently, the Bayern playmaker, who signed the most lucrative contract in club history, now shares the title of the Bundesliga's most valuable player with teammate Michael Olise, whose value remains unchanged.

“As part of the winter updates, Transfermarkt has reevaluated all top players,” said Transfermarkt Market Value Coordinator Tobias Kröger. “The top 10 has been readjusted. Musiala is returning from a severe injury sustained last summer, and it is uncertain when he will be back on the pitch. Other top talents, including Bukayo Saka, Jude Bellingham, Florian Wirtz, and Alexander Isak, have seen their values downgraded. Nonetheless, Musiala remains a top player alongside his teammate Olise.”

Musiala isn't the sole top player facing a downgrade at Bayern Munich. Despite netting 32 goals and providing four assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this season, Harry Kane's market value has been reduced from €75m to €65m. “Kane's downgrade is largely due to his age,” noted Kröger. “Although he is performing excellently and scoring at an impressive rate, his €65m valuation places him as the most valuable player in his age group.” In fact, Kane's market value is €35m higher than that of Liverpool's Mohamed Salah among players aged over 32.

Bayern market values: Downgrade for Chelsea’s Jackson – Wonderkid Karl on the rise

Musiala and Kane are not the only Bayern Munich players experiencing downgrades. Nicolas Jackson, on loan from Chelsea, has seen his market value decrease by 10% from €50m to €45m. “He is a reliable squad player at Bayern,” Kröger commented. “As anticipated, he hasn't outperformed Kane. He is likely to leave Bayern at the end of the season and should find a market in England or even Spain.” Other downgrades at Bayern include captain Joshua Kimmich, whose value dropped by 11.1% to €40m, and Korean center-back Min-Jae Kim, whose value fell by €7m from €32m to €25m due to a prolonged poor form.

Additional downgrades in Bayern's lineup include Serge Gnabry (-€2m to €20m), Leon Goretzka (-€7m to €15m), and Sacha Boey (-€3m to €15m). However, it's not all bad news for Bayern Munich, as the Rekordmeister has been performing excellently, which reflects positively on several players' market values. Dayot Upamecano's value increased by €10m to €70m, Aleksandar Pavlović's by €5m to €65m, Tom Bischof's by €10m to €40m, and Konrad Laimer's by €7m to €32m. Upamecano is particularly notable, having revitalized his career under head coach Vincent Kompany, and with his contract expiring at season's end, he has become one of the most coveted players on the transfer market.

Among the most promising talents in the Bundesliga is 17-year-old Lennart Karl. “He can truly be classified as a wonderkid,” Kröger remarked. “In just a few weeks, he has secured a place in Bayern’s starting lineup and is potentially the most exciting player this season.” This year, Karl made history by becoming the youngest player ever for Bayern to score in the Champions League. He has continued this performance streak, scoring in the last three Champions League matches, setting another record for being the youngest player to score in three consecutive Champions League games. As a result, his market value skyrocketed by 200%, increasing from €20m to €40m, making him the most valuable player born in 2008.

Bundesliga market values: Diomande, Ouédraogo, El Mala – Rising wonderkids

Karl is not the only emerging talent in the Bundesliga. At RB Leipzig, two other young stars, Yan Diomande and Assan Ouédraogo, are having breakout seasons. “Yan Diomande’s rise has been remarkable,” Kröger noted. “Signed for €20m after just 10 LaLiga appearances, he is already making a significant impact on the field, attracting interest from top clubs across Europe.” The 19-year-old’s market value surged by €25m, going from €20m to €45m. Ouédraogo, meanwhile, has also started to shine, becoming a regular starter and scoring on his debut for the German national team. Although he is currently sidelined with a knee injury, his market value increased by 180% from €10m to €28m.

Both Ouédraogo and Karl have garnered significant media attention as top young talents this fall. Another player to watch is 1.FC Köln winger Said El Mala, who is already drawing comparisons to club legend Lukas Podolski. “He has captured the hearts of Bundesliga fans with his speed and dribbling skills,” Kröger stated. “His excellent shooting and technique make him a complete package.” National team coach Julian Nagelsmann has already called him up for Germany, highlighting his potential future prominence. Speculations around his transfer fees indicate interest in the region of €70m, while Transfermarkt has increased his value from €18m to €40m.

Another young German talent is Karim Coulibaly, a center-back from Werder Bremen. “Due to injuries, Coulibaly has stepped into the first team, and interest from other Bundesliga clubs and Premier League teams has surged,” Kröger noted regarding the 18-year-old defender, a member of the U19 German national team. “He has shown immense development this summer and is a player who typically garners significant interest on the transfer market.”

Bundesliga market values: Former Leicester star thrives – Tottenham loanee on the rise

Coulibaly isn't the only young defender making waves in Northern Germany. In Hamburg, Luka Vusković is quickly becoming one of the Bundesliga's standout stars. “Vusković has proven why he is seen as one of the top center-back prospects in Europe,” Kröger explained. Currently on loan from Spurs at Hamburger SV, the Croatian international leads Hamburg’s defense. Such performance is exceptional for an 18-year-old in one of Europe’s premier leagues. Statistically, he stands out as one of the best aerial players in Europe and has a nose for goals. It appears he is destined to return to England. His market value has increased by €22m, rising from €18m to €40m, making him a player too valuable for Hamburg to acquire permanently.

Also on loan from Leicester at VfB Stuttgart is Moroccan international Bilal El Khannouss. Stuttgart has secured an obligation to purchase him, which would cost them €25m once activated. “El Khannouss has been an excellent addition—technically skilled and capable of scoring goals,” Kröger remarked. Stuttgart is likely to trigger that option and finalize his transfer, given that his market value has increased by €4m, now sitting at €32m. “In retrospect, his transfer will be viewed as a steal for Stuttgart,” Kröger concluded.

    Understanding Transfermarkt market values
The market values on Transfermarkt are determined through various pricing models, heavily influenced by the discussions and assessments made by the Transfermarkt community. It is important to note that these market values do not directly correlate to transfer fees.
The objective is not to predict a transfer price, but rather to estimate a player's expected value in a free market. Multiple factors, including individual transfer conditions and situational contexts, are taken into account when evaluating market values. Details of this process can be found in the comprehensive market value definition here.
