<p>Brentford is gearing up for an exhilarating conclusion to their summer transfer window. Reports from Germany indicate that the Bees are eager to secure a significant signing before the deadline on Monday. German tabloid <em>Bild</em> claims that the Premier League club has submitted an offer to acquire Borussia Dortmund forward Maximilian Beier. The initial offer is said to be just under €64 million, with potential add-ons bringing the total up to €69.5 million.</p>

<p>If the rumor holds true and Dortmund accepts the proposal, Beier would become Brentford’s record signing, eclipsing the previous €42.8 million spent on Bournemouth's Dango Ouattara just months ago. This acquisition would also elevate the club's total expenditures this window to an impressive €168.2 million, although this would be largely balanced by the €98.7 million earned from player sales this summer.</p>

<p>Dortmund is well-known for selling emerging talents for substantial fees, and Beier's reported transfer fee would rank as the fourth-highest in the club's history. With add-ons, it would surpass the €64 million Chelsea paid for Christian Pulisic in 2019, but still fall short of the €85 million Manchester United shelled out for Jadon Sancho. Regardless of how his fee stacks up against previous Dortmund stars, it represents a considerable investment for Brentford. After making a name for himself on loan at Hannover during the 21/22 season, Beier returned to Hoffenheim and lit up the Bundesliga with 16 goals and three assists in 33 league matches. This stellar performance caught the attention of Germany's top clubs, leading to his transfer to Dortmund for €28.5 million the following season.</p>

<p>With an abundance of attacking talent at Dortmund, Beier had to bide his time at the Westfalenstadion. However, he flourished in the latter half of last season when new head coach Niko Kovac favored him over Jamie Gittens on the left wing. Beier rewarded this trust with five goals and four assists in 15 league appearances before an ankle injury sidelined him for the final four matches of the campaign.</p>
