Brazil's talent production line shows no signs of slowing down. European clubs are increasingly looking to acquire young prospects from the South American nation, keen to secure the next big Brazilian star. This summer saw Estêvão make his much-anticipated transfer to Chelsea, where he has already begun showcasing his future potential. Talents like Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, and Gabriel Martinelli have also successfully transitioned from South America to Europe. Among the newest emerging talents is Rayan, a winger for Vasco da Gama.

The 19-year-old recently saw his market value rise by over €7 million in the latest valuation update, bringing him to €25 million and making him the second most valuable player in the league, trailing only behind Palmeiras' Vitor Roque (€35 million). Last season, Rayan netted 14 goals in 34 appearances in the Brazilian Serie A, making him one of the league's top scorers, surpassed only by Kaio Jorge (23 goals), Giorgian de Arrascaeta (18 goals), and Roque (16 goals). His impressive performances have attracted interest from clubs like Real Madrid and Tottenham, but recent reports indicate that Bournemouth has made a bid around €32 million. We delve deeper into Rayan's profile with expert insights from Brazil.

What kind of player is Rayan?

Thiago Rabelo, a highly regarded Brazilian journalist and a manager with Transfermarkt's Brazilian division, has observed many of Brazil's emerging talents over the years and shares his insights on Rayan: "Rayan is a physically strong and fast player. He has emerged as one of Brazilian football's top revelations in 2025. He is a key player for Vasco, who has significantly progressed this year under Fernando Diniz's guidance. In Brazil, he's often compared to 'Adriano Imperador,' but I see them as quite different. Adriano played as a center-forward; while Rayan can also play in that role, he excels as a right-winger. He still has much room to develop."

Rabelo emphasizes that Rayan is somewhat distinct from the typical Brazilian talent: "He has a different playing style than what is usually produced in Brazil, where players rely heavily on technique and skill. Rayan's game focuses more on physical prowess and speed. Although he is not yet fully physically developed, the comparisons to Adriano make sense. If he can evolve into a center-forward, he could aim for a spot on the Brazilian national team and potentially become a global star."

Is Rayan prepared to leave Brazil, and what are his potential destinations?

Transitioning not just to another country, but to a different continent, can be a significant challenge for players, especially at a young age. "Rayan is not yet ready for a major European club," Rabelo notes. "He has much to develop physically and technically. However, he is undoubtedly a future prospect for a big European team. His speed and strength align with the European market's demands. It’s only a matter of time before he makes his mark internationally." Recently, it was reported that Bournemouth has made a total offer of around €32 million to Vasco da Gama for Rayan, with ongoing discussions around the deal's structure.

There are also confirmed interests from Real Madrid, Spurs, and several other top European teams. "Vasco has one of the best academies in Brazilian football," Rabelo explains. "However, due to severe financial and political challenges, they have been compelled to sell young players like Philippe Coutinho, Andrey Santos, Paulinho, and Douglas Luiz. While the club still faces issues, the situation is improving, and the need for sales is less pressing. A deal for Rayan will likely require a baseline investment of €30 million. If he continues to develop at this rate, his value will undoubtedly rise. Rayan represents a true gem within Brazilian football."
