How significant is this game for Bryan Mbeumo upon his return to Brentford? How crucial has he been to your team in such a short time?
“His contribution is incredibly important. The energy and positivity he brings to the dressing room is invaluable. He might not be the most vocal player, but his presence is felt; he’s always there to support us. His work rate and pressing capability are outstanding. This season, he presents a different kind of challenge for opponents. His ability to take set pieces is also vital in this league. Overall, I’m very pleased with what Bryan brings to the team.”
Has Bryan surprised you at all? Some players find it challenging to meet the expectations of playing for this club, but he seems to fit right in.
“Absolutely, it’s beneficial to get to know a player before bringing them in. Watching them week after week in the Premier League is essential. That familiarity helped us when considering new players from our league. It allows us to gauge how they perform against various opponents, reducing the risks involved compared to other potential signings. Ultimately, there’s always an element of uncertainty, but we were fortunate to have Bryan.”
In regard to Bryan and the recruitment of players like Matheus Cunha, you focused on securing Premier League-proven talent this summer. How critical was that, and is this a strategy you plan to continue?
“It all depends since Premier League players come with a hefty price tag, so we must manage our resources wisely. Reflecting on last year, the goal was to minimize risk and recruit high-caliber players. Both Bryan and Cunha have demonstrated their quality over several seasons, not just one. So yes, targeting players from the Premier League remains a key strategy for us moving forward.”
