You often mention your close communication with leadership figures like Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Jason Wilcox. Sir Jim shared some very encouraging remarks about you during the break, expressing strong support. How do such comments resonate with you?
“He reaches out to me frequently, sometimes even sending a message after matches. However, I understand – and Jim does too – that football is unpredictable, and the primary focus must always be on the next game. Even with owners involved, you can’t dictate what happens the following day in football. I recognize that, but it’s nice to receive those affirmations. Plus, with everything going on around us, it’s reassuring to hear it from him, Omar Berrada, and Jason, who consistently provide that support.”

Regarding your vision for this club, does their support assist you in that regard?
“Absolutely, I can sense it. It’s not just talk; I feel it every day. Sometimes, the pressure I impose on the team or on myself is far greater than what they feel. I understand that change takes time, but I don’t want to adopt that mindset. I expressed this last year as well. However, hearing their support is certainly helpful. It reassures our fans that leadership acknowledges the journey we’re on. At the same time, I’m cautious because we don’t want to create a sense of complacency. The essential focus is on the next game. While it’s great to feel supported, we must consistently prove ourselves, especially at a prestigious club, to win matches every weekend.”

You’re approaching the 100th match at Anfield between Liverpool and Manchester United, a fixture rich in history. Your first visit there as a player may not have gone as well as you’d hoped, but your most recent experience was perhaps one of your best moments here.
“Yes, I recall that match well; we performed admirably, and the final result was a draw. I felt disappointed at the end because we demonstrated that we could compete against any opponent. I understand the significance of this fixture for our club; I know it’s pivotal for the fans as well. However, this is just one match where we need to showcase our improvements. I believe we are progressing, but we must do better in crucial moments. Ultimately, it’s another game we need to win.”
