Ruben acknowledges that the club’s long-standing reputation for developing youth talent is an ongoing effort that requires constant attention and improvement.
“There’s always room for growth,” he stated. “Given that I’ve only been here for a year and our results haven’t been the best, I don’t feel I’m in a position to criticize the Academy’s state.”
“What I do recognize is that, particularly now with Financial Fair Play regulations and the overall sentiment surrounding the club, the Academy holds significant importance. It’s essential that we prioritize its development and ensure all our staff have the necessary conditions to excel in their roles. Sometimes, it’s not about poor performance but rather the environment they’re working in.”
“We’re actively addressing these issues. We’re bringing in new talent and maintaining ongoing communication with Travis [Binnion] and the young players, aiming to attract the right prospects for training and foster a strong relationship with the Academy. Overall, if you look at our club, it’s clear we are focused on making improvements not only in the Academy but across all areas.”
