Despite any potential rustiness, Mbeumo displayed his skills with an impressively cheeky scooped shot, while Benjamin Sesko exuded confidence in front of goal, having netted three times in his last two games. Bruno Fernandes contributed with a couple of stunning finishes.
Carrick made sure to connect with all his players, offering support to Casemiro at one point and engaging in conversation with fellow South American Lisandro Martinez later on.
In the meantime, a shooting competition took place, with Fernandes eagerly jumping at the chance to participate. The aim was to score three consecutive goals in pairs. Matheus Cunha enthusiastically praised one of his partner Lacey’s shots, but a mix of superb saves and the woodwork heightened the intensity and pace of the competition.
In the end, it was Fernandes and Tyler Fletcher who emerged victorious, much to the delight of their captain.
