Andreas Skov Olsen is poised to join Rangers, with positive negotiations reported between VfL Wolfsburg and the Scottish club, according to Danish magazine Tipsbladet. The winger, who was absent from the VfL squad during last Sunday’s 8-1 defeat to Bayern Munich, is set to arrive at the Premiership club on an initial loan deal.

The report states that Rangers have also secured an option to purchase him outright. Skov Olsen, contracted to Wolfsburg until 2029, is scheduled to travel to Scotland today for a medical examination and to finalize his contract.

Originally signed from Club Brugge for €14 million just a year ago, the Danish player has struggled to make an impact, featuring in only ten matches this season, six of which were starts, primarily due to injuries. He has not seen any playing time under the new manager, Daniel Bauer. Skov Olsen’s market value has dropped from €16 million to €10 million since his move to Wolfsburg.

What to Expect from Skov Olsen at Rangers

At Rangers, he will work with German coach Danny Röhl, who took charge of the 55-time Scottish champions in October and has an average of 1.89 points per game from 19 matches. Under Röhl’s leadership, Rangers have moved up to second place in the league and, with one game in hand, are just behind leaders Heart of Midlothian.

Skov Olsen is expected to become the third most valuable player in the Rangers team and play a crucial role in their title chase during the second half of the season. Despite his challenges in Germany, where he was caught in a tumultuous environment at Wolfsburg—a club that has seen significant upheaval, highlighted by the crushing 8-1 defeat to Bayern Munich last weekend—Rangers might have secured a valuable asset with the option to buy this winter.

Skov Olsen, known for his ability to both score and assist, previously showcased his talent at Club Brugge, where he amassed 49 goals and provided 30 assists in 124 appearances. If utilized effectively at Rangers, there is potential for him to reignite his career and recover his market value.
