France’s World Cup Aspirations

Representatives from Fenerbahce have engaged in direct negotiations with N’Golo Kanté regarding a potential move this January. The 34-year-old’s contract with Al Ittihad is set to expire in the summer, and Fenerbahce is optimistic about reaching an agreement with the Saudi club to bring Kanté back to Europe. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Turkish club has already submitted a contract proposal to Kanté, with further discussions anticipated between the two clubs.
The French international made the decision to join the lucrative Saudi Pro League in 2023 after his contract with Chelsea ended, but he is reportedly open to a transfer to Fenerbahce. Kanté’s unexpected inclusion in Didier Deschamps’ squad for Euro 2024 raises his chances of being selected for the upcoming World Cup. It is still uncertain whether Al Ittihad will allow his departure midway through the Saudi Pro League season, but negotiations are currently in progress.
N’Golo Kanté in Discussions for Fenerbahçe Transfer
Despite nearing the end of his playing career, signing Kanté would be a significant achievement for Fenerbahce as they aim for the Süper Lig title. Currently, they trail Galatasaray by just three points in the title race, having recently defeated their rivals in the Turkish Super Cup. Fenerbahce hasn’t claimed the championship in Turkey since 2014, and the potential acquisition of Kanté could provide the team with a much-needed boost.

The midfielder remains a trusted starter for the French national team, although the Super Lig may not match the levels of the top European leagues. During his peak years at Chelsea and Leicester City, Kanté was widely regarded as one of the best midfielders globally, earning two Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy during his illustrious career.
